MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST)

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc assumed duties as the 17th Commander of the Security Forces (West) on 23 August 2024. The newly appointed Commander Security Forces (West) was awarded with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour by the troops of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers soon after his arrival at the premises, in accordance with military traditions.

After the formal military honours, Major General Lanka Amarapala auspiciously took over duties amidst religious observances and placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office. Thereafter, the Commander Security Forces (West) participated in a group photograph and planted a sapling to mark the assumption of duties. Afterwards, the Commander was invited for an all ranks tea.

After the formalities, a comprehensive briefing was conducted by Staff Officers of the Security Forces (West). After the briefing, the Commander had a conference with the General Officer Commanding of Infantry Divisions which are under command to Security Forces (West). Afterwards, the Commander addressed troops emphasizing the significance of discipline and its integral role in achieving success. He shared his vision for the command and outlined his goals, inspiring the troops to work towards common objectives. The program was concluded with the Officers’ address at the conference hall.

Deputy Commander Security Forces (West), The General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division, the General Officer Commanding of 57 Infantry Division, the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Logistic Commander, Council Members of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin & Quartering, Commanding Officers, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) participated in the day’s ceremony.
