As a concept of the Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General MK Jayawardena RSP USP ndu appraised the Sapper Officers who performed extremely well during Army courses conducted in year 2022. The event was held on 04 January 2023 at the Regimental Headquarters - Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE). Two Sapper Officers, Major HAMP Kumara psc SLE and Captain AAPV Suraweera SLE was bestowed with cash gifts for their academic excellence during the courses.
Major Kumara Hettiarachchi, secured First in Order of Merit in the Defence Services Command and Staff College Course No 16 out of 148 Officers from tri services. The Golden Pen Awarded for the best thesis and also he was awarded with the Golden Owl Award for the most outstanding performance demonstrated in the Course No 16 including Commandant honours.
Captain AAPV Suraweera SLE became the First in order of merit out of 27 Officers from different Regiments at the Counterinsurgency and Jungle Warfare (C I J W) course No 31 held at Army Training School - Maduruoya.
The initiative taken by the Colonel Commandant, SLE for awarding cash gifts for the Officers and Other Ranks is to encourage them to participate for the courses enthusiastically and to perform in a highest level which in turn will reduce the burden of their course expenditure.
Colonel Commandant - SLE and the Chief Field Engineer Major General M K Jayawardena RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding - Engineer Division, Major General A H L G Amarapala, Centre Commandant - SLE, Brigadier M P K Madurapperuma, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors and Other Ranks were present during this ceremony.
