MAJOR GENERAL CHANDANA WIJAYASUNDARA ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE 21ST COLONEL COMMANDANT OF CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

The newly appointed 21th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General WMGCSB Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, took office during a ceremony held at the Corps Headquarters on 23 June 2022. He was greeted with Military honours and ceremonials before a gathering of Officers and Other Ranks. Major General Chandana Wijayasundara is presently performing duties as the Commander, Security Force - Jaffna. He is a proud product of ST. Thomas’s College, Matale.

The day’s Chief Guest on his arrival at the Corps Headquarter, was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma and accorded with a Guard Turn Out. Afterwards, the Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath at the war heroes’ monument to pay his tribute to the fallen heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the motherland. Subsequently, the Chief Guest was bestowed with a Ceremonial Parade.

Thereafter, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara placed his signature on the taking over documents to certify the assuming of duties amidst chanting of Pirith by “Maha Sangha” in the presence of Senior Officers and the staff of Corps Headquarters.

As the next event of the day’s ceremony, Major General Chandana Wijayasundara attended for a Tea with his family members and all Officers at the Officers’ Mess. At the occasion, he shared his views and thoughts while engaging with the gathering.

Finally, the Colonel Commandant addressed the Officers and Other Ranks who were present at the ceremony and all other Troops of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers via Zoom technology.
