Newly promoted Brigadier M Mayadunna RSP USP took over the office as the Regimental Centre Commandant of the corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, with effect from 10 February 2020. He was enlisted to the Army on 14 July 1990 and commissioned to the corps of Sri Lanka engineers as a Second Lieutenant on 06 June 1992 having completed his Basic Military Training at Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa. He was subsequently promoted to the ranks of Lieutenant on 03 July 1994, Captain on 15 January 1997, Major on 20 October 2001, Lieutenant Colonel on 28 December 2009, Colonel on 09 August 2017 and Brigadier on 15 June 2020.
Brigadier M Mayadunna RSP USP who counts 30 years of notable service in the Army was well recognized for his performances and talents that he displayed throughout. Brigadier M Mayadunna RSP USP who has vast experiences in various capacities holding Command and Staff appointments. He has served a number of Command and Staff appointments in different capacities such as Troop commander 7 SLE, Adjutant 7 SLE, Officer Commanding 72Fd Squadron, General Staff Officer III at Directorate of Training, Staff Officer III at Regimental Headquarter , Second In Command 12 SLE, General Staff Officer I GS Branch, Commanding Officer 11 SLE, General Staff Officer I of Dte of Plan, General Staff Officer I , 23 Division, Col GS 23 Division, Colonel(A) Directorate of Personal Administration, Commander 543 Brigade and finally Centre Commandant of Regimental Headquarter. During his tour of duty he has actively contributed to war against the terrorism and most of the time he has served in the Northern and the Eastern theatres of Operations as a Sapper Officer. He was actively participated to the humanitarian operation against LTTE. Brigadier M Mayadunna RSP USP is an old boy of prestigious Ananda College, Colombo 10. He is an officer with mental and physical courage and good sportsman in school as well as the Army. Brigadier M Mayadunna is a good cricketer in Sappers Cricket family. He is well known as "Mangala" among his superiors and peers and he is married to Mrs Lalani Mayadunna and blessed with a son and a daughter.
