Colonel Commandant visited to Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering

Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General H J S Gunawardana RSP VSV USP ndc psc officially visited Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Thunkama, Embilipitiya on 26 November 2019. During his visit he grace the National Vocational Training (NVQ) Graduation Ceremony as the chief guest followed by he declared open New Pier for Training and Sappers’ Floating Villa at SLSME.

National Vocational Training (NVQ) Graduation Ceremony

National Vocational Training (NVQ) Graduation Ceremony was held in Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) with the participation of Director General of Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority and other directors of Sri Lanka Vocational Training Authority. This was the fourth consecutive NVQ graduation ceremony held since 2016. 08 officers and 38 other ranks were graduated in NVQ level 3 and 4 in the trades of Quantity Survey (QS), Mason, Electricians and Carpenter.

New Training Pier for Combat Engineers

A new training pier was constructed by all ranks of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Thunkama, Embilipitiya is in the length of 220 feet. First pier in SLSME was constructed in 1989 and the new pier timely important for training of Combat Engineers, Watermanship, Disaster Management, Lifesaving and Water sports like swimming in the army.

Sappers’ Floating Villa at Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering

Sappers’ Floating Villa was constructed by SLSME at Chandrika Lake and it was opened with jubilant dinner while 30 sapper officers were on board. Hot food, barbeque, snacks, drinks were served with saxophone music at the middle of the lake. This exotic floating villa was commissioned for all sapper officers and their families as a welfare project.
