CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS BIDS FAREWELL TO GENERAL MAHESH SENANAYAKE THE 22ND COMMANDER OF THE ARMY

Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers hosted ceremonial farewell formalities for General Mahesh Senanayake the Fourth Sapper Commander of the Army one of its exemplary Senior Officers produced by the Corps. General Mahesh Senanayake, the Fourth Sapper Commander of the Army is a well dignified military leader and a legendary Sapper officer who possess 38 years’ of illustrious military career. On his arrival at the Corps Headquarters General Mahesh Senanayake was warmly welcomed by Major General Jagath Gunawardena the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) and the Colonel Commandant Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers along with the Centre Commandant Brigadier Ravindra Dias before according the formal Guard Turnout.

The day hour ceremonial farewell formalities included a Floral Tribute to Fallen War Heroes of the Corps, Guard of Honour, Group photograph with officers, meeting with Regimental Council Members, All Ranks Tea and street lining. The Dinner Night hosted to the Fourth Sapper Commander was graced by large gathering of officers and spouses at the Officers Mess culminated the ceremonial functions.

The Colonel Commandant Maj Gen Jagath Gunawardena during his farewell remarks highly appreciated the great service rendered by General Mahesh Senanayake to the Corps and to the nation as a whole being the Commander who lived in the hearts and minds of officers and men of victorious Sri Lanka Army. The sheer dedication and commitment of madam Chandrika Senanayake to uplift the welfare of the needy soldiers and families of the War Heroes as the President of Army Seva vanitha Unit was highlighted by the Colonel Commandant at his farewell speech. The senior officers, officers and large gathering of spouses were graced the ceremonial farewell formalities organized the Corps.
