THE VALIANT SAPPERS WHO SACRIFICED LIVES REMEMBERED AT THE 66 ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

The valiant Sappers who sacrificed their lives for the motherland during the war, was remembered with glory and pride on 11 November 2017 during the 66 Anniversary day celebrations held at the Headquarter Corps of Engineers Panagoda. On the invitation of the Colonel Commandant the Commander of the Army Lt Gen NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc graced the event as the Chief Guest. Floral tribute to the fallen war heroes was commenced after Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim religious formalities. Later, charming perahera has organized by the organizing committee to carry the “Sadathuka Karanduwa”. All night Pirith Chanting ceremony stated with blessings of the Maha Sanga for the Corps of Engineers and for the Sappers who sacrificed their valuable lives during the war. The all night Pirith Chanting ceremony followed by “Heel Dana” on 12 November 2017 and offering of pirikara for maha sanga concluded the anniversary celebrations. The Commander of the Army Lt Gen NUMMW Senanayake RWP RSP USP psc, the Colonel Commandant Maj Gen S Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc along with retired and serving senior officers of the Corps, officers, retired and serving Other Ranks and relatives of the soldiers’ who lost their lives during the war were presented during the celebrations.
