RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL D S WEERASEKERA USP, ACCORDED WITH A PARADE AND FORMAL DINNER AT THE HOME OF SAPPERS
Major General D S Weerasekera USP, popularly known as \"Dhammika\" among their associates, enlisted to the Army on 3 Feb 1981 as an Officer Cadet and served for more than 35 years of unblemished service in his long career in the Army. Major General D S Weerasekera is due to retire from the Sri Lanka Army on 12th December 2016. During his military carrier, he held number of key appointments in the Army and finally held the appointment of the Director Project Management Defence Headquarters Construction Project.\r\nMajor General Dhammika Weerasekera was received by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier AN Amarasekara USP at 0900 hrs on 9 December 2016 at the main entrance and initially he inspected the guard turn out. Thereafter he was accorded with the Guard of Honour at the Parade Square. Number of senior sapper officers, sapper officers and other ranks were participated at the event.\r\nFormal Dinner was hosted to the retiring Major General Dhammika Weerasekara by the Deputy Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General HCP Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc and All Officers of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers from 1930 hrs at the Officers\' Mess RHQ SLE. The occasion was graced by number of Senior Sapper Officers and Sapper Officers which brought a glamour to the final event of the day.
