TROOPS OF ENGINEER BRIGADE CONDUCTED MINE RISK EDUCATION PROGRAMME (MRE)
Troops of Engineer Brigade, conducted Mine Risk Education Programme to educate school children of Kosgama, Salawa areas while conducting clearing operations and reconstruction works.
With the directions of Commandant Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force/ Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Major General H C P Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc and the Commander Engineer Brigade Brigadier S J M A R Seneviratne RWP USP psc, Sapper troops educated students on Mine Risk Education on 13 and 14 June 2016 in order to educate the danger and vulnerability of the Unexploded ordnance (UXO). The educative sessions were conducted at Navodya Vidyalaya Kosgama, St Don Bosco School Kaluaggala, Sumedha Vidyalaya (Primary Section) Kosgama and St Don Bosco School (Primary Section) Kaluaggala. Approximately Eighty Teachers and Two Thousand Students participated the sessions.
