USA DELEGATION DONATES EOD EQUIPMENT TO THE SRI LANKA ARMY

Extending an impressive gesture of goodwill, the US Embassy in Colombo donated EOD equipment to the Sri Lanka Army for the use of Combat Convoy Company (CCC), United Nation Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (UNMINUSMA). This special donation was made by a delegation headed by Commander Ross Peters the Chief, Office of Defence Cooperation and Security Cooperation Specialist Kapila Dissanayake from the US Embassy. On behalf of the Commander of the Army Gen LHSC Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil the donation was accepted by the Chief Field Engineer of Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen AN Amarasekara USP ndu and the Commanding Officer of 14 CBRN Response Regiment SLE on 17 August 2021 at the Convention Center, Mattegoda. The equipment donated consist of 2 x Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and 6 x Bomb Disposal Suits (BD Suits).

The Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen AN Amarasekara USP ndu emphasized the importance of this donation and conveyed his sincere gratitude to the US Government and the US Embassy in Sri Lanka. Further, the Chief Field Engineer appreciated the tireless and generous effort of the US Embassy specifically LTC Travis Cox the Defence Attaché for making this donation a success. He further reiterated that this equipment would definitely enhance the capabilities, confidence, credibility and capacity of the EOD operator in the field. The Head of the US delegation Cdr Ross Peters, Chief, Office of Defece Cooperation expressed the willingness of the US Embassy to assist the Sri Lanka Army in the future too.
