A specially designed full-day leadership training program was conducted for 78 prefects of Dharmapla Maha Vidyalaya, Kottawa North, on Tuesday (05) at Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Mattegoda, with the request of the principal.
With the blessings of the commander of the Army Lt Gen Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu and the guidance and supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the leadership program was undertaken with the intention of developing students' leadership qualities, teamwork & team building capacities, personality and social etiquette.
The master class which unfolded with the key note mentioned that "school prefects are the sphere of influence who can make or break their followers or fellow students." The well-coordinated leadership program encompassed lectures, indoor and outdoor activities, and demonstrations which enhanced training in much realistic back ground on the taught subjects and value-added experiences to feel the guidance in persuasion to obtain successes in practice leadership, in order to enhance the knowledge and skills on leadership and to give competence to the young leadership to groom them in successive path through realistic approach while let them know the effective way and art of leadership. The lecture on “Leadership” as well conducted team building exercises to read pulse and rhythm of comradeship.
Core value of studentship from school anthem to moto were built and embedded to inspire in the course of guidance making frame through successful approach to functional leadership. The feedbacks and back briefs of the students and teachers have given green light of fulfillment of quest that what they requested. Indeed, it was a great pleasure to witness throughout the session such an enthusiastic participation and eagerness to learn skills and adaptation effectively them.
The certificate awarding ceremony for the junior prefects was conducted at the end of the program, and Commander – Sri lanka Army Engineer Division Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc graced the event as the Chief Guest along with the Principal of Dharmapla Maha Vidyalaya, Kottawa North Mr. Udayaruwan Mallikarachchi. Senior Officers, Other Ranks & School Teachers participated in the glamorous certificate awarding ceremony
