RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL LN WICKRAMASURIYA RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, ACCORDED WITH A PARADE AND FORMAL DINNER AT THE HOME OF SAPPERS
Major General LN Wickramasuriya RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, popularly known as \"Lasantha\" among their associates, enlisted to the Army on 31st August 1981 as an Officer Cadet and served more than 35 years in his illustrious career in the Army. Major General LN Wickramasuriya is due to retire from the Sri Lanka Army on 12 January 2017. During his military carrier, he held number of key appointments in the Army and finally held the appointment of the Chief of Staff, Joint staff at Office of the Chief of Defence Staff.\r\n\r\nMajor General Wickramasuriya was received by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier AN Amarasekara USP at 1000 hrs on 10 January 2017 at the main entrance. Initially he inspected the guard turn out and he was accorded with the Guard of Honour at the Parade Square. Number of senior sapper officers, sapper officers and other ranks were participated.\r\n\r\nThe occasion was marked with a Tea at the Officers\' Mess where the Chief Guest was greeted by all officers present.\r\n\r\nFormal Dinner was hosted to the retiring Major General Lasantha Wickramasuriya by the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General HCP Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc and All Officers of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers from 1930 hrs at the Officers\' Mess RHQ SLE. The occasion was graced by number of Senior Sapper Officers and Sapper Officers with their spouses which brought a glamour to the final event of the day.
