A series of ceremonies were held at the Regimental Centre, Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers in conjunction with the celebration held on 10.10.2023 on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the Army.
With the commencement of the day’s events the Deputy Centre Commandant, Col RM Subasinghe RSP hoisted the Army flag and the Army song jointly sung by everyone present which add grandeur and patriotic sentiments to the occasion. A two-minute silence in honour of all War Heroes who sacrificed their lives during the sacred mission of defending the Motherland and those who went missing in action was then observed. Subsequently, congratulatory message issued by the Commander of the Army was read at the occasion. Commemoration of the 74th Army Day was marked by planting a Guava tree at RHQ SLE premises by the Deputy Centre Commandant.
Then all ranks were made to witness the Army day parade through the Army Facebook page at the Auditorium. The termination of day’s programme was marked by all ranks lunch at the Sappers’ Mess with participation of the Commander Security Forces Headquarters Mullaitivu and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Centre Commandant Brig SPG Gamage RWP RSP USP and Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre.
