Passing out parade of "Explosive Detection Dog Handler Basic Course No 4" and opening of "Veterinary Hospital" in K9 Section, got underway on 30 March 2021 at Field Engineer Brigade in Boo Oya. The Chief Field Engineer and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General A N Amarasekara USP ndu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of the Commander Field Engineer Brigade, Brigadier D P Jayasinghe RSP.
Explosive Detection Dog Handler Basic Course No 4 conducted under the directions and guidance of the Chief Field Engineer and the Commander Engineer Division. Successfully, 29 x Dog Handlers and 24 x Explosive Detection Dogs have been passed out and dog handlers received their certificates and badges from the Chief Guest. Finally, the Chief Guest addressed the passed out troops while appreciating the commendable efforts and dedications of instructors and dog handlers for bringing down required standard of Explosive Detection Dogk
During stay of the Chief Guest in Field Engineer Brigade, He declared opened the Veterinary Hospital, which was long-felt need of K9 Section at Field Engineer Brigade. The Veterinary Hospital houses Surgical Theater, Preparation Unit, Recovery Unit and Ward. Further, it encompasses with Ultra Sound Scanning, Electro Cardio Graphy and Digital Radio Graphy Reading facilities. This hospital was built by the troops of Field Engineer Brigade and 4 (V) Sri Lanka Engineers under the allocations provided by State Ministry of Rural Housing and Construction & Building Materials Industries Promotion. Further, to mark the opening of Veterinary Hospital, the Chief Guest planted the sapling at K9 Section in Field Engineer Brigade.
