OUTGOING DGGS MAJOR GENERAL G D I KARUNARATHNE RSP psc ACCORDED WITH CEREMONIAL HONOURS ON HIS RETIREMENT

The Sapper family bid farewell to Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc on 26 October 2018. Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc retired on completion of 35 years in the Army and he was accorded with full military honours at the Headquarters Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Panagoda.

Major General G D I Karunarathne RSP psc was enlisted to the Sri Lanka Army on 27 April 1983 and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 07 November 1984 and joined Corps of Engineers. He has held many command, instructional and staff appointments during his tenure in the Army. Further, he has contributed immensely to the Corps by holding key appointments such as Commanding Officer 6 SLE, Commander Engineer Brigade and Chief Field Engineer.

The farewell ceremonies included a Guard Turnout, Floral Tribute to Fallen War Heroes, Guard of Honour and a Farewell Dinner. Major General D D U K Hettiarrachchi RSP VSV USP ndu psc Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineers and Mrs Ajantha Hettiarrachchi the President Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Engineers together with senior officers and their spouses graced the occasion to extended their best wishes for the outgoing Major General and his lady.
