Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, made an official visit to the Field Engineer Brigade, 8, 9, 10, and 11 Field Engineer Regiments on 18th and 19th February 2026.
During the visit, he was accorded Drive Passes at all locations and welcomed in accordance with military traditions. Addressing troops and officers at each establishment, the Colonel Commandant reflected on the evolving operational responsibilities of Sappers and underscored that technical excellence, disciplined leadership, cohesion, and professional integrity remain the cornerstone of operational success.
In his remarks, he also commended the commendable contribution made by the Regiments during and in the aftermath of the Ditwah Cyclone, appreciating the dedication, technical expertise, and teamwork displayed in carrying out emergency response, restoration, and recovery tasks. He emphasized that the swift and professional actions of the Sappers during this challenging period not only supported affected communities but also clearly demonstrated the Corps’ versatility and unwavering commitment to national service beyond conventional operational roles.
The programme at each location included troop addresses, the signing of Visitors’ Books, Group photographs and cordial interactions with all ranks over tea. He expressed his appreciation for the dedication and high standards maintained by the Field Engineer Brigade and its Regiments.
The series of visits concluded on an inspiring and forward-looking note, strengthening the bond between the Colonel Commandant and all ranks, while reinforcing a renewed determination to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, operational readiness, and the proud traditions of the Sappers.
