Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was invited to be the Chief Guest at the Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony 2024 at Harischandra College, Negombo on Wednesday (19th).
Upon his arrival at the school premises, Major General Lanka Amarapala was warmly welcomed by the college principal, Mr. Vimukthi Deshppriya Siriwardena. Subsequently, the Chief Guest was escorted to the college grounds by the western band and was accorded a glamorous guard of honour by the young cadets of Harischandra College, Negombo. Following this, the chief guest was escorted by traditional dancers to hoist the national flag. Later, Major General Lanka Amarapala was introduced to the distinguished gathering.
The prefects’ investiture ceremony was adorned with various performances by the talented students of the college. The auditorium was filled with the joy, excitement, and laughter of teachers, parents, and fellow students.
During the ceremony, 110 students of Harischandra College received their symbolic laurels. First, deputy principals of the college pinned prefects insignias, next by the principal, and subsequently, the day’s chief guest pinned laurels to the top board of prefects. After the investiture, Major General Lanka Amarapala delivered a brief address to the gathering, motivating the students. He emphasized the duties and responsibilities that lay ahead for the newly appointed prefects, highlighting the importance of upholding the traditions and customs of the college while maintaining high standards of discipline.
To conclude the event, the chief guest posed for photographs with the respected principal and his staff.
