MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA PAYS HIS MAIDEN VISIT TO 6 FIELD ENGINEER REGIMENT

Major General Lanka Amarapala, the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, paid his first formal visit as the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division to the 6 Field Engineer Regiment, on Wednesday (08). Where he commanded 13 years ago as the Commanding Officer, the visiting General Officer Commanding was received on arrival by the commanding officer of the 6 Field Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Chamila Lahadasinghe.

Major General Lanka Amarapala, on his arrival, reviewed the guard turnout at the entrance of the prestigious regiment in accordance with military formalities. Second, to commemorate his visit, the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division planted a mango sapling in the camp premises. Apart from that, to add colours to the day, Major General Lanka Amarapala was invited to symbolize the inauguration of the newly constructed commanding officer’s office by unveiling a plaque and cutting a ribbon.

After a while, the commanding officer conducted a formal presentation to acquaint the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division with the progress of nation-building projects, infrastructure development, camp security, training, the welfare of the soldiers, and combat readiness. Thereafter, Major General Lanka Amarapala addressed all ranks of the 6 Field Engineer Regiment. During his address, he recalled great memories he experienced with the prestigious regiment and contribution made by the 6 Field Engineer Regiment during the victorious Wali Oya Battle in 1995.

The formal visit culminated with a camp visit. Colonel General Staff, Colonel Pradeep Siriwardena, and Colonel Project—Plant Engineer Brigade, Lt Col Saliya Jayasinghe also participated for the event.
