Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Director General Financial Management and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, was invited to be the Chief Guest at the Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony 2024 at Sri Sumangala Girls’ School on Tuesday (13th).
On his arrival at the school premises, Major General Lanka Amarapala was warmly welcomed by the principal, Mrs. Imali Thirimanne. Subsequently, the Chief Guest was escorted by the western band to hoist the national flag.
The prefects’ investiture ceremony was adorned with various performances by the talented students of the college. The auditorium was filled with the joy, excitement, and laughter of teachers, parents, and fellow students.
During the ceremony, 124 students of Sri Sumangala Girls’ School received their symbolic laurels. First, principals of the invitees’ schools pinned prefects insignias, and subsequently, the day’s chief guest pinned laurels to the top board of prefects.
After the investiture, Major General Lanka Amarapala delivered motivating speech to the gathering, motivating the students. He emphasized the duties and responsibilities that lay ahead for the newly appointed prefects, highlighting the importance of balancing education, sports and extra-curricular activities equally to win over the challenges lies ahead in their lives.
Past pupil of Sri Sumangala Girls’ School, Lieutenant Colonel KASS Perera CES was among the distinguished invitees of the event.
