MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE COMMANDER OF THE ENGINEER DIVISION

Major General Lanka Amarapala assumed duties as the Commander of the Engineer Division on Wednesday, the 12th of October 2022, amidst religious rites and rituals and formal military ceremonials at the Engineer Division Headquarters, Home of Sappers, Mattegoda.

The new Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General Lanka Amarapala was received at the entrance of the Home of Sappers by the Colonel Admin and Quartering of the Engineer Division Colonel Mangala Balasooriya. Thereafter, the In Coming Engineer Division Commander reviewed the Guard Turnout and was accorded a Guard of Honour. The new Commander, Engineer Division was ushered to the saluting dais to receive the Guard of Honour by the Colonel General Staff of the Division Colonel Pradeep Siriwardena, which was accorded by SLE troops.

As members of the Maha Sangha commenced chanting Seth Pirith and invoked blessings upon the new Commander of the Engineer Division, Major General Lanka Amarapala, placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his office. Subsequently, the new Commander was invited for a group photograph followed by planting a tree sapling.

Following the tree planting ceremony, the Commander of Engineer Division addressed the officers and other ranks, highlighting his scope of work and duties in the days to come. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of battle preparedness and professionalism to face the emerging future threats and challenges. He, further expressed his gratitude to his predecessors for their tireless effort and uplift and improved the efficiency of the Engineer Division.

The day's activities concluded with an interaction session with Senior Officers, Officers, and other Ranks at tea, during which the newly appointed Commander of the Engineer Division thanked all Brigade Commanders, Regimental Centre Commandant, Commandant of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, Commanding Officers, Division Staffs, and other Ranks for greeting him and gracing the occasion.
