MAJOR GENERAL DARSHANA HETTIARRACHCHI ASSUMES OFFICE AS THE NEW COLONEL COMMANDANT OF CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS

Newly appointed 13th Colonel Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi, took the office during a charming ceremony held at Corps Headquarters on 30 January 2018, was greeted with Military honours and ceremonials before a large gathering of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks. Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, is presently performing duties as Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and a proud product of Ananda Collage.

The day’s Chief Guest on his arrival to the Corps Headquarter, was warmly welcomed by the Overlooking Centre Commandant, Colonel Lanka Amarapala and accorded with a Guard Turn Out. Afterwards, newly appointed Colonel Commandant, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi placed his signature on the taking over documents to certify the assuming of duties amid chanting of Pirith by “Maha Sangha” in the presence of Senior Officers and the staff of Corps Headquarters.

Thereafter, Colonel Commandant laid a floral wreath to the war heroes’ monument to pay his tribute to the fallen war heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of sovereignty of the motherland. Subsequently, day’s Chief Guest was bestowed with a Guard of Honour. After taking the salute, Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi along with Senior Officers, Officers attended for a Tea with All Ranks at utility building. At the occasion, he shared his views and thoughts mingling with the gathering.

As the final segment of the day’s ceremony, Colonel Commandant addressed the Commanding Officers and the Staff Officers of the Corps Headquarters at the Convention Centre.
