General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division Major General Lanka Amarapala, paid a formal visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering on Wednesday (23), at the invitation of the Commandant, Colonel Chandana Wickramanayke. On arrival, the GOC Engineer Division was accorded a Guard Turnout followed by planting a Red Sandalwood sapling to mark his maiden visit to the premier Combat Engineer Training Establishment.
The General Officer Commanding of the Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division then posed for a group photograph with the Staff of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. Subsequent to the group photograph, the Commandant of SLSME briefed the progress of development of SLSME's infrastructure facilities and ongoing courses. Major General Lanka Amarapala then addressed the Officer’s and Other Ranks of SLSME. The GOC in his address, emphasized the value and significance of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering to all Sappers as well as the necessity of professional knowledge and development. Subsequent to the troop address, the GOC joined all officers and other ranks for refreshment.
During his visit, the GOC inspected the Sappers' Mess, the Main Cook House Complex, and the NVQ Training Centre. The visit culminated with lunch at the Officers ‘Mess. All the Officers and Other Ranks of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering attended this momentous event.
