Insignia awarding ceremony of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal course - BIEDDC - No 4, Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Response Course - No 2 were ceremonially held on 25th of November 2022, With the honorable participation of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and The Colonel Commandant Of The Corps Of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen Chandana Wijayasundara at the parade ground of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Col Chandana Wickramanayake has welcomed the chief guest Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and The Colonel Commandant Of The Corps Of Sri Lanka Engineers. The Centre Commandant Of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Birg Manoj Madurapperuma, Commander - General Engineer Brigade Birg Chandika Peiris, Chief Instructor Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Maj Namal Keerthisinghe, Senior officers, Officers, Training School Warrant Officer and a large gathering of Other Ranks have participated at the event.
4 x Officers and 22 x Other Rankers got qualified to wear EOD badges after completion of the BIEDD course successfully. 4x Officers and 27 x Other Rankers qualified to wear CBRN badges after successfully completing the Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Response course. Following officers and Other Rankers were proudly secured the highest average during the BIEDD/CBRN courses.
a. Maj KGML Priyantha USP SLE (O/67289) (12 Fd SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in BIEDD Course.
b. S/247409 L/Cpl Fernando TM (12 Fd SLE) -The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in BIEDD Course.
c. Capt BHCD Gunathilaka SLE (O/68250) (5 FD SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in CBRN course.
d. S/245836 L/Cpl Jayawardane JAMM (9 FD SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in CBRN course.
Ceremony was unfolded with Guard Turnout, Insignia awarding and student oath which has been delivered by the Commandant - Col Chandana Wickramanayake of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and The Colonel Commandant Of The Corps Of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen Chandana Wijayasundara has addressed and congratulated students of course for a bright future. After he has participated in tea at officers’ mess along with all officers. Furthermore, in order to mark his presence at the SLSME he did not forget to leave a note in the visitor’s book.
After, The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and The Colonel Commandant Of The Corps Of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen Chandana Wijayasundara addressing the troops at the camp he was honored by giving memento by Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Col Chandana Wickramanayake on-dehalf of all Offrs and Other Ranks of SLSME.
