GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING - SRI LANKA ARMY ENGINEER DIVISION MAJ GEN SHEWANTH KULATUNGE GRACES THE OCCASION OF INSIGNIAS AND CERTIFICATES AWARDING CEREMONY OF THE BOMB AND IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES DISPOSAL COURSE NO-06

Insignias and certificates awarding ceremony of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal course No-06 was ceremonially held on 08th of September 2023 at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering with the participation of General Officer Commanding of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division, Major General SA Kulatunge RWP RSP VSV USP psc as the Chief Guest. The event was held with glamour and charm at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Col MKV Manoharan USP welcomed the Chief Guest. The Insignias and Certificates Awarding Ceremony was witnessed by Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps of Engineers.

The EOD badge was awarded to 05 Officers and 20 Other Ranks who successfully qualified the BIEDD course. Further, the following Officer and NCO who exceptionally performed in the course secured the highest average during the BIEDD course.

Maj MAP Abeywickrama psc SLE (O/66042) (7 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in BIEDD Course No-06.

S/248627 L/Cpl Andiraj P (14 CBRNE Response Regt SLE) -The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in BIEDD Course No-06.

During the Award Ceremony the Chief Guest, General Officer Commanding Major General Shewanth Kulatunge stressed on the future employment of the newly passing out BD operators. He further emphasized the importance of the unique task performed by the EOD teams and stressed on the importance of their duties in preserving the lives of the civilians and public property. He further emphasized on the importance of learning and improving knowledge with time regarding the modern techniques and equipment in the field of EOD. The General Officer Commanding wished the newly passing out operators’ success in their future duties.
