THE CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS SHOWCASES ATHLETIC EXCELLENCE AT THE INTER REGIMENT ATHLETICS MEET – 2026

The Inter Regiment Athletics Meet – 2026 of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was successfully held on 08 March 2026 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama. This sporting event brought together talented athletes representing various regiments and Sri Lanka School of Military Engineers (SLSME), creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with enthusiasm, competitive spirit and strong regimental pride. The meet served as an important platform to promote physical excellence while strengthening the bonds of camaraderie among members of the Corps.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Major General C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army, as the Chief Guest, adding prestige and significance to the commencement of the event. His presence marked the formal inauguration of the meet and set the stage for a day of spirited athletic competition among the participating regiments.

Throughout the day, athletes competed enthusiastically in a wide range of track and field events, displaying remarkable speed, endurance, strength and determination. The competitions witnessed several outstanding performances as soldiers pushed their limits in pursuit of victory, reflecting the high standards of physical fitness, discipline and perseverance maintained within the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.

The Closing Ceremony was graced by Major General D K S K Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, as the Chief Guest. During the ceremony, trophies and awards were presented to the victorious teams and outstanding athletes in recognition of their exceptional performances and remarkable achievements during the meet.

• Men’s Runner-Up – 1 Field Engineer Regiment

The successful conduct of the Inter Regiment Athletics Meet – 2026 highlighted the athletic excellence, discipline and unity of the members of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. Beyond the competitive achievements, the event further strengthened camaraderie and esprit de corps among the regiments while reinforcing the importance of maintaining superior physical fitness as an integral element of military professionalism.
