CORPS OF SRI LANKA ENGINEERS CELEBRATES ITS 71ST ANNIVERSARY AT REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS PANAGODA

The Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, celebrated its 71st Anniversary on 09 November 2022, since its inception in 1951. As one of the finest Combat Support Arm of the Sri Lanka Army and as a key stakeholder of nation-building having the motto of “Motherland Honour and Service”. The Anniversary day programme comprised with series of events, which took place at the Regimental Headquarter premises Army Cantonment, Panagoda

The incumbent Colonel Commandant of the Regiment & Commander Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna, Major General WMGCSB Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, grace the event as the Chief Guest along with Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks of the Corps in celebration of this special day. The days programme consisted with Guard Turnout, Guard of Hounour, Troops Address, all Ranks Lunch, Tribute to Fallen War Heroes and Chanting of Bana

The Chief Guest was welcomed by the Centre Commandant, Brigadier MPK Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, at the main entrance which followed by presenting the Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour at the parade ground. Thereafter, the Chief Guest addressed the senior officers, officers and other ranks and highlighted the commitment and transition of Sappers in the past seven decades. After that keeping with the traditions, Chief Guest along with other Senior officers attended the all Ranks Lunch at Sappers Mess. The next main event of the day was the, Tribute to the Fallen War Heroes which took place at the monument premises in the evening hours. This event was included with lightening of lamp by the Colonel Commandant, reiligious activity, rana bera display, wreth laying which added more esteem and honour to the event. The final event of the anniversary day was the chanting of bana by the Ven. Pitigala Dhammavineetha Thero which took place at the Sappers Mess

In celebration of the 71st Anniversary, the Chief Field Engineer ; Major General MK Jayawardane RSP USP ndu, Director General General Staff of Office of Chief of Defence Staff ; Major General KAA Udaya Kumara RSP USP USAWC psc, General Officer Commanding Engineer Division ; Major General AHLG Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc also graced occasion. Further, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers of Regiments, Regimental Seargeant Majors alongwith cross sections from all the regiments participated the 71st Anniversary Day celebrations
