COLONEL COMMANDANT UNDERTAKES MAIDEN VISIT TO SRI LANKA SCHOOL OF MILITARY ENGINEERING

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, paid an official visit to the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) on 28th January 2025.

Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Colonel J A C S Jagoda psc, Commandant of SLSME, and honored with a ceremonial Guard Turnout, symbolizing respect and recognition for his leadership. The visit commenced with a group photograph to mark the occasion.

Under Major General Lanka Amarapala’s visionary leadership, SLSME has undergone significant development in training facilities and infrastructure. During the visit, he ceremonially inaugurated several newly renovated facilities, including the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Equipment Yard, the Earth Moving and Construction Plant Model Room, and the upgraded Young Officers’ Accommodation.

These improvements reflect SLSME’s commitment to providing modern training resources and infrastructure for military engineers. The enhanced facilities play a crucial role in developing expertise in bomb disposal, construction, and earth-moving operations, while the upgraded accommodations offer a more comfortable and contemporary living environment for trainees of all ranks.

Major General Lanka Amarapala also reviewed ongoing renovation and construction projects aimed at further modernizing SLSME’s premises. He was briefed on these initiatives, which align with his vision of elevating educational and training standards.

In his address, Major General Lanka Amarapala highlighted the importance of discipline, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence as core military values. He stressed that a soldier’s success stems from an unwavering dedication to duty, adherence to military discipline, and continuous personal and professional growth. He further emphasized the significance of contributing to the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, encouraging personnel to actively participate in fostering environmental sustainability, effective waste management, and ethical responsibility, all of which are essential for building a better future for the nation.

Concluding his visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala recorded his commendations in the SLSME visitors’ book at the “Totupala” premises. The event was attended by Colonel F Joseph USP, Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, the Colonel General Staff of the Engineer Division and other Senior Officers of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
