In a formal ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, the Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Major General C D Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc, officially pinned the rank insignias on two newly promoted Senior Officers of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on 22nd April 2026.
During the ceremony, the Colonel Commandant took the opportunity to personally pin the new rank insignias on Lieutenant Colonel R M L A Rathnayake USP psc SLE, the Commanding Officer of the 1 Field Engineer Regiment, and Lieutenant Colonel A S A Jayaweera USP psc SLE. Following the pinning, Major General Chandana Wickramanayake extended his warmest congratulations to the newly promoted officers, sharing words of encouragement and wishing them continued success in their future endeavors and responsibilities.
The Colonel Commandant also took a moment to recognize two other Senior Officers of the Corps who were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on the same day but were unable to attend the day’s ceremony due to their current service commitments.
Lieutenant Colonel N L D Vidanage USP SLE, the Chief Instructor of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, and Lieutenant Colonel S A A H Dias RSP SLE, who is currently overseas following the Mid-Career Course No 73 in Pakistan, were both remembered and congratulated by the Colonel Commandant. The Colonel Commandant acknowledged their achievements and extended his best wishes for their professional growth and upcoming challenges. The event concluded with the Colonel Commandant emphasizing the importance of leadership and professional integrity as these Senior Officers step into their new roles within the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers.
