THE COLONEL COMMANDANT MADE AN OFFICIAL PROJECT VISIT AND FLOOD AFFECTED SOLDIERS IN MATARA

The Commander Security Forces Headquarters Mullaitivu and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Maj Gen MK Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu made an official project visit to General area Thudawa, Matara District for the purpose of providing Engineer assistance and guidance for the upcoming project of construction of bypass channel to Salinity Barrier. The primary purpose of the Salinity barrier is to prevent saltwater from mixing with the river and causing a drinking water crisis.

Subsequently, the Colonel Commandant visited flood affected soldiers, namely L/Cpl Premathilaka SAND belongs to the 6 Field Engineer Regiment whose is house subjected to landslide threat due to continuous flood situation and WO II Ariyasena KS (Retired) from 1 Field Engineer Regiment. The Commandant Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, Col MKV Manoharan USP and the Chief Instructor Maj JN Keerthisinghe SLE also joined with the Colonel Commandant during the visit.
