CHIEF FIELD ENGINEER OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA GRACES THE OCCASION OF INSIGNIA AWARDING CEREMONY OF BOMB AND IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES DISPOSAL COURSE

Insignia awarding ceremony of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal course was ceremonially held on 15th of June 2023 at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering with the participation of Chief Field Engineer of The Sri Lanka Army Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc as the Chief Guest. The event was held with glamour and charm in the parade ground of Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering. Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering Col MKV Manoharan USP welcomed the Chief Guest, Chief Field Engineer of The Sri Lanka Army. The Insignia Awarding Ceremony was witnessed by the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division, Maj Gen SA Kulathunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc, The Centre Commandant of Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers Brig MPK Madurapperuma RSP USP psc, Commander - General Engineer Brig T C Peiris RSP USP, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Corps of Engineers.

The EOD badge was awarded to 03 Officers and 24 Other Rankers who successfully qualified the BIEDD course. Further, for the first time the course students got opportunity to undergo 14 days package on Basic Chemical, Biological, Radiology and Nuclear Response (CBRN) training at end of the BIEDD course. The following Officer and Other Ranker who exceptionally performed in the course secured the highest average during the BIEDD/CBRN courses.

a. Capt TGHM Karunarathne SLE (O/70441) (10 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in BIEDD Course.

b. S/244259 Cpl Marasighe MMMM (9 Fd SLE) -The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in BIEDD Course.

During the award Ceremony the Chief Guest, Chief Field Engineer of the Sri Lanka Army Major General Lanka Amarapala stressed on the future employment of the newly passing out BD operators. He further emphasized the importance of the unique task performed by the EOD teams and stressed on the importance of their duties in preserving the lives of the civilians and public property. He further emphasized on the importance of the integrity of each BD operators and their responsibility towards National Security. The Chief Field Engineer wished the newly passing out operators’ success in their future duties. At the end of the parade a live demonstration was conducted on performing of EOD task.
