THE CBRN UNIT OF THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS SHOWCASE'S IT'S CAPABILITIES TO WHO REPRESENTATIVES.

The 14 Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Regiment SLE (14 CBRN Regt SLE) on the request of World Health Organization, Sri Lanka (WHO Sri Lanka) conducted a demonstration on CBRN Response and Explosive Ordnance Disposal for the participants of international course on emergency response in natural, accidental and deliberate events and operational readiness on 15 February 2019 at army camp, Mattegoda.

The Course was organized by World Health Organization, Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine. The training team which witnessed the demonstration consisted of 40 participants including members of foreign nations. The demonstration was organized by 14 CBRN Regiment SLE with the guidance of the Engineer Brigade.

The participants were welcome by Commander Engineer Brigade, Brigadier AN Amarasekara USP ndu and the introductory briefing was conducted by Commanding Officer 14 CBRN Regiment SLE. The CBRN and EOD demonstrations were held after the initial briefings at Sappers’ Cricket Ground with the participation of 2 x 52 CBRN, EOD troops.

Officials and trainees of WHO Sri Lanka, Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention, Disaster Management Centre, Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police, Special Task Force, Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and 10 foreign participants from Bosnia, Maldives, Tunisia and Turkey attended this event.
