ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE ENGINEER SEVA VANITHA BRANCH 2016
Annual General Meeting of the Seva Vanitha Branch Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers was held at 1600 Hrs to 2230 Hrs on 19th November 2016 under the patronage of Mrs. Lushanie Goonetilleke at the Regimental Centre Panagoda. Spouses of Serving Officers of the Corps of Engineers including the Executive Committee of the Branch participated.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe meeting commenced with the welcome speech and presentation of wheel chairs and sanitaryware to Sappers wounded in action. A run through of the past events of 2016 followed recalling memories and appreciating the effort and contribution of the members towards the Engineer Seva Vanitha Branch and the Regiment. The AGM culminated with an educative and informative expose on \"Problem of Common Gynecology\" by Dr. Asela Amarasiri MBBS (SL), MS (SL), Obs & Gyn.\r\n\r\nThe traditional fellowship following the AGM brought together Past Presidents and past and current members to an evening of fun, entertainment and camaraderie.\r\n\r\n The message by the President of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers on the occasion of the AGM is given below:\r\n\r\n\"I am delighted to announce and welcome you to the Annual General Meeting 2016 of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The Annual General meeting gives all of us the opportunity to look back at the year gone by and evaluate and readjust the functions of the Seva Vanitha Branch to gear up for the year ahead.\r\n\r\nI am pleased to note that 2016 like the previous years have been quite eventful and engrossing. We have been able to step up the pace and scope of the assistance extended to the veterans of the Corps of Engineers and their loved ones. We have also been able to spread the goodwill of the ladies of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers beyond the Corps through some vibrant activities organized for Army welfare institutions especially \"Abimansala\".\r\n\r\nMost of all we have been able to grow into a little family where all the ladies could give off their best as and when it was convenient to each other and all of us understanding the constraints of family commitments at each stage of life. This understanding has drawn the members of our organization much closer in the year gone by creating a very congenial atmosphere for everyone to come forward and make every activity fun and enjoyable. It has not stopped there but has also transcended to create a platform for our children to mix up and grow into much closer entity.\r\n\r\nI wish to congratulate all of you for what you have achieved.\r\n\r\nWe must congratulate on what has been achieved and extend the camaraderie towards the much reserved younger members of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Engineers and encourage them to be more familiar with the working of our team. This I am sure will be taken care of by the Spouses of the Commanding Officers. We will be more than willing to provide all the assistance in this direction. \r\n\r\nI wish to thank each one of you for the tremendous contribution made during year 2016 and wish you all the strength, courage and God\'s Blessings to carry forward the spirit of the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Corps of Engineers in the year ahead.\"
