ALL NIGHT PIRITH CHANTING AND ALMS GIVING ON 65 CORPS DAY

An all-night Pirith Chanting Ceremony followed by an alms giving was held at the Regimental Centre on 4th and 5th November 2016 in compliance with the 65th Corp’s Day. Deputy Chief of Staff Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Engineers Maj Gen H C P Goonetilleke RSP VSV USP ndc psc, senior serving and retired Sapper Officers, a large number of Sappers and family members of the fallen Sapper Heroes attended the event.\r\n\r\nThe Pirith chanting ceremony commenced with the monks being ushered into the venue in a colorful pageant and was followed by an alms giving to 65 Buddhist monks in the following morning. Religious blessings were invoked on the heroic Sapper personnel who were killed in action while safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the motherland.
