Major General P W B Jayasundara (Rtd) VSV USP ndc USACGSC IG who had served the country for more than 34 years and earned admiration as an experienced Gunner in the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery was laid on 12 June 2023 at Borella General Cemetery, amid a mammoth gathering of his military comrades, family members and mourners.

On the eve of the 75th National Independence Day anniversary, 8 Senior gunner Officers (both serving and retired) who had maintained exceptional, distinguished, unblemished and loyal service of moral and military conduct for not less than 25 years were conferred with the ‘Vishishta Seva Vibushanaya’ (VSV) decoration on 1st February 2023 by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency the President Ranil Wickremesinghe during a conferment ceremony at the President’s House in Kandy.

Sri Lanka Artillery bid farewell to Major General DMAP Dissanayake RWP RSP USP ndu IG, Major General KTADS Kolambathantri RWP RSP USP psc IG, Major General GWL Mahinkanda on 03 June 2022, who retired after serving more than 34 years in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army. Farewell formalities were held in its customary way at Artillery Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.
