The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery bid a farewell to Major General PR Wanigasooriya VSV USP ndu USACGSC, 20th Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 26th October 2020 at his retirement from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army after serving more than 34 years and the Ceremony was held at Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.

A colourful Regimental Parade was accorded to the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 19 September 2020 at the 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery parade ground marked another important event of the series of events conducted with the 132nd Anniversary. The day’s event also textured with All ranks lunch held at 6 SLA with the participation of senior officers, officers and members of all Regiment of the Regiment of Artillery.

Celebration of 132nd Anniversary of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, WOs’ and Sgts’ Cocktail was held at WOs’ and Sgts’ Mess, Panagoda on 18 September 2020 with the participation of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and senior officers.

Overnight Pirith Chanting ceremony was held in the evening on 17 September 2020 in line with the132nd Regimental Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony and concluded with the offer of alms giving to Maha Sanga on 18 Friday morning where religious blessings were invoked on the heroic Gunners who paid the supreme sacrifice.

A felicitation ceremony was held to express congratulations and respect for Major General NLK Samarasinghe IG, Major General TD Weerakoon RWP RSP USP and Major General WASS Wanasinghe RSP USP ndu who were recently promoted to the rank of Major General in their career as Gunner Officers. The customary event unfolded on 19 June 2020 at Regimental Headquarter premises, Panagoda with the participation of officers and other ranks. On behalf of the Colonel Commandant and all officers and other ranks of the Regiment, the Centre Commandant extended the best wishes of the Regiment to the newly promoted Major Generals.
