FAREWELL CEREMONY TO MAJOR GENERAL H G P M KARIYAWASAM RSP ndc psc IG

Gunner family bid farewell to Major General H G P M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG on 15 February 2024. Farewell formalities were held at the Artillery Regimental Centre in Panagoda as per the customs and rich traditions of Gunners.

The ceremony began with the laying of a flower wreath at the Regimental Monument in honour of the fallen war heroes. The Troops of the Regiment accorded a Guard turnout and a Farewell Parade to Major General H G P M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG. The WOs’and Sgts’ Mess held a lavish tea in honour of the retiring General, followed by an All Ranks Lunch at ORs Mess - 4 SLA.

The day’s events were concluded with a Guest Night hosted by the Officers of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery at the Officers’ Mess Panagoda. The Commandant of Defence Services Command and Staff College and the Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Major General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Senior Officers, Officers and their ladies were present at the occasion.
