14 TH SLFPC CRICKETERS PARTICIPATE IN THE ‘SRI LANKA AMBASSADOR'S TROPHY -2023’

The Embassy of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in Lebanon organized ‘Sri Lanka Ambassador's Trophy Cricket Tournament - 2023’ on Sunday morning (23) July 2023 at St. Joseph Cricket grounds, Achrafieh in Beirut.

A total of 12 teams representing the Embassies of United Kingdom, Australia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, 07 other teams with Sri Lankan peacekeepers and one team consists of 14th Sri Lanka Force Protection Company (SLFPC) contested with each other teams. Men and Women who contested for the tournament representing the 14 SLFPC team exhibited their energetic and tremendous sports skills as usual and qualified for the semi-finals. The 14 th SLFPC cricket team was led by Maj Nuwan Mannage MIR and Captain Shanaka Dissanayake SF.

This eleven-a-side softball cricket tournament is annually held as a part of the community outreach program, intending to enhance the fellowship among the foreign community living in Lebanon. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Lebanon, HE Kapila Susantha Jayaweera who graced the tournament as the Chief Guest awarded medals and trophies to the winning team at the end of the day.
