SEARCH AND DETECTION TEAM OF 4TH COMBAT CONVOY COMPANY RECOVERS AN IED (VOIED)

The troops of Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company (CCC) in Mali have been providing security for logistic convoys under trying circumstances having carried out operations while providing security to fuel bowsers and cargo trucks despite life-threatening risks and adverse weather and inhospitable terrains.

The Sri Lankan 4th CCC, under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) has conducted Combat Convoy Escort Operations on Saturday (03) June 2023.

During the ongoing convoy operation from Tessalit to Gao, the Search and Detection Team of 4th CCC has recovered a VOIED coupled with 20KG Jerry Can filled with HME at 0920hr and it caused no harm to the troops, MINUSMA equipment or any civilians in the areas. Later, the EOD team has exploded the VOIED at 1049hrs.
