The South Sudan-based SRIMED Level-2 Hospital, currently managed by the 7th Sri Lankan contingent came in for praise of the Hospital Evaluation Assessment of the Field HQ of the UN Mission in South Sudan during the evaluation review conducted by them.
It was conducted by staff officers from the Sector East HQ and the team was led by Deputy Force Medical Officer Lieutenant Colonel Dr Fatema Zein Khan. At the beginning of the day's procedures, the Sri Lankan Contingent Commander Colonel D.R.S.A Jayamanna delivered the welcome speech cum the introductory remarks, outlining the role and tasks of the SRIMED Level- 2 Hospital, situated in BOR, South Sudan before the logistic briefing was presented by Chief Logistic Officer Major D.L.P Kahawatta.
The assessment focused on knowledge of the hospital commander and logistic officer as the Sector East Medical Head, Relevant aspects of operational support as well as knowledge on contingency plans and preparations, medical facilities, Functional capacity of SRIMED Level -2 to maintain adequate medical supply for 60 days for 40 outpatients daily and 20 new admissions for 07days, COVID-19 preventive measures and best practices, etc.
The team further evaluated the knowledge of all hospital staff about health care quality and patients' safety according to the UN patient care quality manual. Mass casualty management readiness of SRIMED Level II hospital was also assessed by case scenario exercises during the review under the direct supervision of the Deputy Force Medical Officer.
