WEAPON HANDLING AND AMMO FILLING COMPETITION HELD AT THE SLGU PREMISES

With the transformation of Combat Convoy Company duties to UN Guard Unit duties, weapon handling has become indispensable to all troops in Sri Lanka Guard Unit (SLGU). Thereby, first ever competition for Contingent Commander Challenging Trophy was introduced for Ammunition Loading and Arms/Weapons Handling Competition during 01 and 02 March 2024 at the contingent premises at GAO UN Liquidation Entity.

The aim of this competition was to maintain the high standard of combat readiness within the troops of Sri Lankan contingent. The competition was held among the companies of Sri Lanka Guard Unit who are performing duties as UN Liquidation Entity in GAO at Mali.

During the competition, weapons of T56, LMG and MPMG striping and assembling ability and skill of ammunition filling was assessed. At the end of the competition, trophies were awarded to the winners who excel in handling of weapons while ‘C’ Company became the overall champions of the event.
