TROOPS OF 4TH COMBAT CONVOY COMPANY IN MALI RECEIVE THE UNITED NATIONS PEACE MEDALS

The troops serving the Sri Lankan 4th Combat Convoy Company (CCC), deployed under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission (MINUSMA) in Mali have received their United Nations Peace Medals at the parade ground in Gao Super Camp on Saturday (29) April 2023.

During the awarding ceremony, Officers and Other Ranks of the 4th CCC had the honor of receiving their decorations from the hands of Brigadier General Harendra Pathak, Sector East Commander (SE CMD) along with Ms Hawa Ahmed Youssof, Head of the Office Gao Region, General Lazara Tarpaga, Regional Commander UNPOL and the other contingents’ commanders.

In addition to the day’s event, the newly constructed War Heroes’ Monument at Gao Super camp premises was declared open by the distinguished invitees. Subsequently, they walked up to the cenotaph and laid floral wreaths in remembrance of fallen peacekeepers.

Later, the Sector East Commander who presided over the ceremony gave away the Sector Commander’s letter of appreciation to the 4th CCC in recognition of their adventurous operations with excellence, other mission support activities, strict discipline and friendly relationship with all the companions in and outside the sector. The ceremony ended with a stunning cultural demonstration.
