A TEAM OF UN OFFICIALS ARRIVES IN SRI LANKA FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND ADVISORY VISIT

A team of UN Officials arrived in Sri Lanka for the Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) on 20 March 2023 to verify the Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (PCRS) of the additional Combat Convoy Company (CCC) Mali - B1.

In parallel with the Assessment and Advisory Visit (AAV) of the UN officials to Sri Lanka, the UN delegation called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage on Tuesday (21) at the Army Headquarters in Sri Jayawardenepura.

The UN delegation comprised Mr. James Victor Dercole from USA, Colonel Lawrence Kapina from Sierra Leone, Lieutenant Colonel Rajeev from India, Mr. Mark Flood from Ireland and Mr. Satvinder Singh Paul from India. They inspected self-sustenance equipment, combat vehicles and accessories, de-mining devices, Explosive Ordnance Devices, logistic and medical equipment, military hardware, and witnessed mock demonstrations during their visits (21-25 March) to the 1 Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Engineer Division, School of Military Engineering at Embilipitiya, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers' Base Workshop at Udawalawa and the Institute of Peacekeeping Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL).

Towards the conclusion of the interactions at the Army HQ, the Commander of the Army awarded special mementos to the visiting UN representatives as tokens of appreciation.
