THE SRI LANKA ARMY 5TH COMBAT CONVOY COMPANY LEAVES FOR UN ASSIGNMENT IN MALI

The first group of the 5th Combat Convoy Company (CCC) contingent departed for peacekeeping duties at the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Saturday (01) 2023. Accordingly, 170 professionally trained Army personnel including 20 Officers and 150 Other Ranks representing various Regiments of the Army left the country at 2300 hrs to replace the Sri Lanka Army 4th Combat Convoy Company in Mali (MINUSMA).

The other group of 73 Army personnel, belonging to the same CCC are expected to leave on 29 August 2023.In the meantime, 243 members of the 4th CCC troops serving in Mali having completed their peacekeeping duties will return home under two phases.

The move had been closely supervise by Movement controller MINUSMA, Permeant Representative United Nation (PRUN) liaison with Directorate of Movement and Directorate of Operation. Airport aviation authority facilitated Army Senior officers to encourage the troops by wishing them at disembarkation.

Senior officers including Major General G.R.R.P. Jayawardana RWP RSP ndu, Colonel of the Regiment SLSR, , Brigadier C. S Thibbotuge Regimental Center Commandant SLSR , Brigadier K. L. S .S Liyanagama RWP RSP Directorate of Movement, Col P. P. C. Perera Overlooking Director Overseas Operations, Col I. P.Dasanayake Col Coord Overseas Operations, Col E N P Gunawardana Deputy Center Commandant SLSC along with Senior Officers, were at the airport to see them off to the 5th CCC troops.
