MINUSMA FORCE COMMANDER COMPLIMENTS ON ROLE OF SRI LANKAN CONVOY

Force Commander in Mali United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre called at the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company on 19 September 2020, deployed in landlocked Mali in West Africa and received an update on the role, being performed by the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company.

The Senior Officer was warmly welcomed by the Officers at the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company. Subsequently he was enlightened on the role and tasks, assigned to the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company through a presentation, conducted by Major Monoj Vithanage, Deputy Contingent Commander of the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company.

Afterwards, the visiting Force Commander addressed the officers and appreciated the tasks, being performed by the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company, inclusive of the conduct of convoy escort duties which facilitate the smooth function of all MINUSMA key installations. He further highlighted the professionalism and discipline, being maintained by the troops of the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company.

Thereafter, he added memories to the visit by sitting together for a group photograph and planting a sapling in the premises. Further, the Senior Officer visited the camp area, Other Ranks’ accommodation and Level - I Hospital. Finally, Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company troops presented a symbolic souvenir to the Force Commander as a token of appreciation. A dinner treat the same evening brought the day’s programme to end.

Lieutenant General Dennis Gyllensporre was accompanied by Colonel Tame Gallab, Deputy Sector Commander, Sector East and a few other senior Officers from Force Headquarters during the visit to the Sri Lankan Combat Convoy Company.
