ANOTHER GROUP OF ARMY PERSONNEL LEAVE FOR MALI ON PEACEKEEPING MISSION

A group of 73 Army personnel belonging to the 5th Combat Convoy Company (CCC) departed for peacekeeping duties at the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) on Tuesday (29) August 2023 as the second phase.

Accordingly, 3 Officers and 70 Other Ranks representing various regiments left the country to undertake the responsibilities of 5th CCC. During the first phase, 170 troops including 20 Officers and 150 Other Ranks departed for Mali on 01July 2023.

Major General G.R.R.P Jayawardana RWP RSP ndu, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and Quarter Master General (QMG) at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier G.L.S.W. Liyanage USP psc Director Overseas Operations, Brigadier K.L.S.S Liyanagama RWP RSP, Director Movements, Senior Officers, Other Ranks and family members of the contingent were at the airport to extend best wishes for the outgoing troops.

In the meantime, 73 Army personnel of the 4th CCC serving in Mali having completed their peacekeeping duties will return home on Thursday (31) August 2023
