9TH CONTINGENT AT SRIMED LEVEL 2 HOSPITAL IN SOUTH SUDAN MARKS ITS COMPLETION OF TENURE

The 9th contingent of United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at SRIMED Level 2 UN Hospital in Bor, South Sudan consisting of 09 x 43 troops arrived in Sri Lanka after their successful completion of the one-year mission period on Sunday (05) February 2024.

The UN chartered Ethiopian Airlines flight touched down the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Colombo at 0655 hours. In the meantime, the troops of 9th contingent of level 2 hospital UNMISS were warmly welcomed by Major General P.A.C Fernando USP, Colonel Commandant SLAMC and Director General Army Health Services, Major General W.L.A.C Perera RWP RSP USP, Director, Directorate of Movement, Brigadier W.A.U.S Wanasekara RWP USP, Centre Commandant SLAMC and few senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army graced the troops arrival at the BIA.

During their one-year tenure, the SRIMED troops dedicated for smooth function of the Level 2 Hospital and gave their valuable contribution to maintain UN standards of health care and quality with patient safety at the United Nations Level 2 Hospital. While providing security to people of this country, our Protectors of the Nation continue to bring home much-needed foreign revenue at a time when the country is faced with economic challenges. Further, the remaining 06 X 06 troops stayed in South Sudan as a rear party and they will arrive in due course.
