9TH CONTINGENT OF SRI LANKA ARMY LEVEL 2 HOSPITAL LEFT FOR THE UN PEACEKEEPING DUTIES IN SOUTH SUDAN (UNMISS)

The 9th contingent, SRIMED Level 2 Hospital consisting of 66 Army personnel including 17 Officers and 49 Other Ranks left for the United Nations peacekeeping duties in South Sudan (UNMISS) during early morning hours on 02 January 2023.

In parallel to that, the troops of 9th Contingent presented a ceremonial salute to Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Army at the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Regimental Headquarters - Werahera on 25 January 2023.

The 8th Contingent of Sri Lanka Army Level 2 Hospital is expected to return Sri Lanka on 03 January 2023 after completing their Tour of Duty in South Sudan.

Moreover, the 9th Contingent is commanded by Colonel M.P.S.R Amarasekara USP and 2nd in Command, Major J.A.D.C.H Jayasinghe. The contingent includes 40 Other Ranks from SLAMC along with the Other Ranks of Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Corps of Engineer Service, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps.

Representing the Commander of the Army, Brigadier P.P.A Perera Hdmc, psc, Director, Directorate of Overseas Operations, Brigadier M M Salwatura RWP RSP USP, Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, together with Senior Officers saw the Sri Lankan Contingent off at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
