10TH CONTINGENT AT SRIMED LEVEL 2 HOSPITAL IN SOUTH SUDAN MARKS ITS COMPLETION OF TENURE

The 10th contingent of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) at SRIMED Level 2 UN Hospital in Bor, South Sudan, consisting of 9 x 42 troops arrived in Sri Lanka on 11 February 2025, after the successful completion of their one-year mission. Furthermore, the remaining 07 x 05 troops stayed in South Sudan as a rear party and will arrive in due course.

The UN-chartered Ethiopian Airlines flight touched down at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Colombo, at 2310 hours. Upon arrival, the troops of the 10th contingent of the Level 2 Hospital UNMISS were warmly welcomed by Major General DKSK Dolage USP psc Colonel Commandant of the SLAMC and Director General of Army Health Services, Brigadier CD Wickramanayake WV RSP ndc Director Movement, Brigadier WAUS Wanasekara RWP USP Centre Commandant of SLAMC and several senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army, who graced the troops' arrival at BIA.

During their one-year tenure, the SRIMED troops were dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of the Level 2 Hospital and made valuable contributions to maintaining UN standards of healthcare and quality, with a focus on patient safety. While providing security to the people of South Sudan, our Protectors of the Nation continue to bring much-needed foreign revenue to Sri Lanka during a time of economic challenges.
