A two-day long Indian government-initiated webinar workshop on ‘Good Governance Practices in a Pandemic (COVID-19) for International Civil Servants’, jointly organized by Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs and National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG), Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) was inaugurally addressed this afternoon (18) by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel, PG and Pensions.

The Flight No UL 1026 from Chennai with 150 passengers and Flight No UL 1042 from Mumbai with 44 passenger arrived and Flight No UL 504 from London with 59 passengers will arrive in Sri Lanka today (20). The Flight No UL 455 from Japan with 03 passengers arrived and Flight No UL 605 from Melbourne with 98 passengers and Flight No UL 504 from London with 04 passengers will arrive in Sri Lanka today (19). All of them will be sent to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri services for necessary quarantine process, a statement issued this morning (19) by Military Spokesman, Brigadier Chandana Wickramasinghe on behalf of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army presented a comprehensive update on the status quo as regards the COVID-19 outbreak and its control in Sri Lanka to a consortium of Defence Attaches/Advisers from eight foreign missions in Sri Lanka when they called at the Army HQ this afternoon (16).

Showing the highest regard and concern for members of the Sri Lankan armed forces in their fight against the control of COVID-19 pandemic, Sri Lanka Accountants' Service Association this afternoon (16) extended its members' support by way of handing over a large consignment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) overalls, worth about Rs 2 million to Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters.
