Three Iranians & Five More Sailors Tested Positive for COVID-19

The Flight No H-6731 from Nepal arrived in Sri Lanka today (16) with 34 passengers. All of them were sent to QCs, managed by tri services for necessary quarantine process, stated a Media Release issued this evening (16) by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya.

Meanwhile, 179 individuals after completion of the quarantine process at Brandix Poonani (123), Nipuna Boossa (15), Diyagama (22), Meeyankulam (12) and Panichchankerni (7) Quarantine Centres have left for their homes today (16) after the conduct of PCR tests and with Quarantine Certificates.

Today (16), a total of 14,276 quarantined individuals from tri service-managed QCs left for their homes. As of now, 4,152 persons are still in quarantine in 44 island-wide QCs, run by tri services. By 1600 hours today (16), five more heroic sailors and three Iranians who arrived yesterday (15) were confirmed positive for COVID-19 pandemic after PCR tests and were admitted to the hospitals. Similarly, 29 personnel, 06 overseas-based Sri Lankans and 23 heroic sailors after recovery left hospitals today (16).

As of now, heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus stand at 890 in total. Of them, 763 after full recovery and PCR tests were discharged from hospitals. A total of 127 infected sailors are still under treatment in hospitals as of now, the statement ended.
